Really Can't Bring Myself To Like This

Hot Toys revealed their next MMS offering last Friday and it is a non-surprising Loki based on Thor The Dark World movie. Given the popularity of Tom Hiddleston for his portrayal of the character, this figure release is already in the list of Hot Toys MMS line even if the new costume design doesn't have any significant difference in comparison to the one in the Avengers.

What's should be interesting and something look forward to in this release is the improved headsculpt. But looking on these photos, it turns out to be a total disappointment for us who have high expectations on it. Look, is that Tom Hiddleston to you? Looks like somebody cosplaying Loki. It really doesn't look even close. I would even say that the previously released Avengers Loki headsculpt is much better. That one is a bit closer to Tom's likeness. Sure this new one got that nice realistic wrinkles and texture details, but you can't really say that it supposed to be the actor.

My expectations are based on what we've seen in their recent announcements, like The Wolverine MMS, Alfred Pennyworth, or Thor from The Dark World. Those figures have satisfying headsculpts, which means they can do a lot better than this. It's really hard to imagine this one next to the Thor TDW MMS, cause it would seem like the actor Tom Hiddleston was replaced in the 2nd Thor movie due to budget constraint.

And more, the costume design itself isn't movie accurate here and there. So it's really frustrating, especially to those like me who doesn't have the Avengers version and waiting for a better release. I would really love to get me one Loki MMS and still convincing myself that this is good enough. But no matter how I look at the photos, I really can't bring myself to like this. Turns out that the Avengers version is a lot better. I am actually thinking of hunting that one, instead of getting this.

The 1/6th scale Loki Collectible Figure specially features:
  • Authentic and detailed fully realized likeness of Tom Hiddleston as Loki in Thor: The Dark World
  • Movie-accurate facial expression with detailed wrinkles and skin texture
  • Black hair sculpture
  • Body with over 30 points of articulations
  • Approximately 32 cm tall
  • Six (6) pieces of interchangeable palms including:
  • One (1) pair of partially clenched palms
  • One (1) pair of relaxed palms
  • One (1) right palm for holding dagger
  • One (1) left open palm
  • Each piece of head sculpt is specially hand-painted

Costume:
  • One (1) black long vest with leather-like materials and bronze-colored armor
  • One (1) long-sleeve leather-like black and green long coat with bronze-colored armor and strap
  • One (1) leather-like pants with patterns
  • One (1) pair of black boots

Weapon:
  • One (1) dagger

Accessories:
  • One (1) pair of handcuffs with chains
  • One (1) pair of legcuffs with chains
  • One (1) neck collar with chains
  • Figure stand with Loki nameplate and the movie logo

Special Version – Bonus Accessory (for selected markets only):
  • One (1) 1/6th scale Aether

This is just the prototype and I'm still hoping that Hot Toys would later redo the headsculpt. And if they did the likeness to Tom correctly, it doesn't matter if there are some inaccuracy on the costume, my money will be on them. But right now, this is a no-no for me.

For those who are interested, Hot Toys Thor The Dark World - 1/6th Scale Loki Movie Masterpiece is scheduled to be released on Q2-Q3 of 2014. Hot Toys Japan listed it as September 2014 release and retails for 25,000 yen. Sideshow has it for 239.99 USD. I'm Still Unimpressed

Bandai officially announced the Figuarts ZERO - Shanks (Battle ver.) (see the previous announcement here) in their Tamashii Web by giving us these official promo photos. I am actually expecting that they would show us a much better look of the figure than what we've seen before, but no, I'm still not impressed.

What they did is that they gave us shots in limited angles which would not make the unimpressive face too obvious. As you can see, there's not even a single close-up shot on the face. There's one front shot but I can't even see the eyeballs. I'm actually thinking that they are planning to redo the face sculpt that's why there held back on giving us a close-up shot.

As for the battle pose, we haven't seen Shanks in action yet, so this attack really doesn't make sense. Or this could be the sword clash against Whitebeard when they met. See below.

Shanks and Whitebeard sword clash
Shanks and Whitebeard sword clash
I'm not sure, but I believe Bandai just came up with the Battle ver. of Shanks thinking of the character's popularity. They should have released some other battle ver. characters like the rest of Mugiwaras' timeskip attacks, or Marco Battle ver. I'm sure those will be sold out figures. Releasing Shanks in a never before seen battle stance isn't really a good idea (unless it is really based on the photo above). I think this will be sold out figure too though, given the popularity of the character, and not because of the figure itself. An easy money for Bandai.

As I mentioned earlier, this will be a pass for me unless I saw something good in the final production photos. If they show this one against a battle ver. Whitebeard, then that will make this figure ten times more interesting. But for now, I'll better wait for that before I jump over the fence. This figure is set to be released on May 2014 (not April 2014 as earlier announced) for 4,320 yen. No preorder schedule information yet so keep an eye on this site or on my Facebook page for further updates.

What's with Another G.E.M. Kakashi, MegaHouse?

Although the figure is looking great, that's my question when I first saw this back at Jump Festa 2014 event last December. A G.E.M. Series - Hatake Kakashi (ANBU Black Ops Ver.) (not sure if that will be the final name). Not too long ago they released their 2nd G.E.M. Kakashi, now they will be releasing the third. It's not so surprising, thinking that many Naruto followers love Kakashi. Still, it's unfair not to give love to other characters in the series.

But this release just made sense when the anime announced their new filler arc. It said to be the untold story of Kakashi during his years as a member of the ANBU Black Ops. So yeah, we will be seeing Kakashi in an ANBU outfit for a few episodes, so this figure is just what a Kakashi fan would need. And that includes me. I still do prefer to see other characters though. Anyway, it's good to see G.E.M. Series Naruto line moving forward.

Well figure wise, I say it's a lot better looking than the first two releases even without the paint yet. I'm already convinced that the fully painted prototype (which we may see on the upcoming Wonder Festival 2014 Winter) will look fantastic, knowing what MegaHouse can do nowadays. The pose is a lot more dynamic compared to the ver 1 & 2. This is the first to have that battle ready pose. A real representation of a shinobi. Another interesting feature is the unusual base. It seems that MegaHouse is moving forward to a more diorama styled bases. Hope this will continue.

No official release date and price announcement yet for this figure. So if you're a Kakashi fan, keep your eyes wide open for further announcements. You don't wanna miss this.

Just Got Two Model Kits from Japan (Look What I Got 2014-01-22)

Two days ago I received another box from Japan early in the morning. A nice way to start the day. And guess what is it.? Well, the box contains two Master Grade kits. Not a Gundam model kits though, but two Figurerise Tiger & Bunny Kits model kits by Bandai. A 1/8 MG Figurerise Wild Tiger and 1/8 MG Figurerise Barnaby Brooks Jr.

These aren't new products to be excited about but I'm happy enough to have them as a companion to my 1/8th scaled  G.E.M. Series - Kotetsu Kaburagi and G.E.M. Series - Barnaby Brooks Jr. These are my 2nd and 3rd MG Figurerise kits, my 1st being the 1/8 MG Figurerise Super Saiyan Son Goku which I haven't even started building yet. So I don't know when will I have a time to build this two, I'm hoping I can do it soon.

And The Agony of Waiting Ended (Look What I Got 2014-01-24)

I got my dose of happiness before a week ended. Yesterday, I picked up some cool new stuff from Figmation. Some items that I'm really looking forward to. And the agony of waiting ended. Let's check out these new items that I got.

First, I got my 2nd Figuarts ZERO Dragonball character (the first one being Super Saiyan Son Goku), the Super Saiyan Trunks, a Premium Bandai limited item. It's really a pain when Bandai releases store exclusive items like these. Good thing Figmation have my back. As with other premium/limited items, it comes in a brown outer box that is used for shipping to protect the actual box. This was released last December and as expected, I got it a month later.

The second item is another one that I've been waiting for since it was released last December. My third Hot Toys Collectible, the Man of Steel Superman. This was initially announced as a February 2014 release, but recently, Hot Toys are pushing their releases forward and decided to release this one two months earlier. Good thing is that I get to enjoy it earlier. Bad thing is that I have to pay earlier which busted my monthly budget. Well, I guess it's better early than late. Early or late, would have to pay for it anyway. Besides, I'm totally happy for having it today.

The next one coming is the War Machine Mark II which is supposed to be released on March 2014, but was released last Thursday in Hong Kong. Two months earlier as well. And I believe The Wolverine's release is also pushed forward to February 2014 instead of June 2014. Two expensive collectibles that I have to prepare paying earlier than I expected. Not complaining here, I'm glad and excited that those are coming soon actually.

The last item that I got is none other than an addition to my usual POP collection. My very own copy of POP LIMITED - Kalifa. A limited edition item, though it was also released internationally. Sadly, I preordered the Japan version before the international release was announced. So I ended up paying more for a Japan version even though I'm fine with just an international release. Anyway, like the Figuarts ZERO - Super Saiyan Trunks, it is also enclosed in a brown shipping box for protection. This is my third CP9 POP, counting the POP LIMITED - Rob Lucci ver. 1.5 and POP MAS - Rob Lucci (Leopard Kami-e Bushin Ver.).

POP LIMITED - Kaku has been announced for preorder next month, but only as a limited item. I shouldn't be so excited and order a Japan version. I better wait if there's an international release announcement  as well before placing my order so I won't do the same mistake again.

New Release Photo Review: POP Neo-EX - Sir Crocodile (Repaint Ver.)

Enter Sandman.... No I'm not talking about the Metallica song but the release of the sandman himself, the POP Neo-EX - Sir Crocodile (Repaint Ver.). Released officially by MegaHouse today, 25th of July 2014. And to celebrate that, we have here some final product photos courtesy of blog.livedoor.jp.

It's really looking nice compared to the previous Neo-DX release. The repaint reflects the crisp and techniques of MegaHouse's recent releases. The sculpt though isn't something new. It still has that nostalgic feel. Which isn't so bad since it supposed to relive the past - the Alabasta Arc.

The overall look of the figure may not be as superb as new POP releases. But it does what it's suppose to do - to give us an improved version of the Neo-DX Sir Crocodile and to satisfy the demand for this figure. I have nothing much to say here so check out the gallery below and see for yourself how nice this POP is.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece Review

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece Review

No, this isn't a light-up effect version as seen in the photo above (that's only a lamely photoshopped heat vision effect), just my personal review of my Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece. Its been a long time since I did a figure review of a figure from my own collection. This is probably the best way to get back into play. I am still new to collecting Hot Toys and this is my first attempt to review a sixth scale Hot Toys MMS, so please forgive my beginner's mistakes and my ignorance on some matters. May I present to you, the Hot Toys treatment of Henry Cavill as the Man Of Steel.

This is my third Hot Toys collectible, my first being Tony Stark Mark XLII Test version and my second is another Tony Stark which is The Mechanic. Although this is my third, this is the first one that I have unboxed an played around with. This first two are still inside the box. I'll probably do a review of those two also some time later.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

So this is the Hot Toys version of the famous Henry Cavill's Superman. It is based on the Man of Steel movie. This is the second Hot Toys MMS based on that movie, the first one is Jor-El MMS which I have no plans of getting. That one is also a nice figure, but I have to keep my purchases for the ones that I really love. There's also an upcoming General Zod MMS, but I might pass on it as well.

Man Of Steel Official Poster
Man Of Steel Official Poster
If you don't know about this movie, then you must be living in a cave for quite sometime now. The movie is a new take on Superman's story by director Zack Snyder, a director who also made 300 and Sucker Punch movies. And a new Superman version would simply require a revamped costume.

At first, I didn't like the costume, but the more I see it, the more it grew up on me. And after seeing the movie, I fell in love with the movie and the costume as well. So what's the best way to relive the experience? - Be a fanboy and get the a nice looking figure that would represent the movie in your display shelves. And here it is, the Hot Toys version.

What made me decide on getting this? Well, I'm a Superman fan myself but I don't own any Superman figure, not even one. My son's toy wasn't counted. I was actually thinking of getting the Sideshow Premium Format Figure which is totally killer, but held back because the price itself is also a killer. At the time this figure was announced by Hot Toys and went up for preorder last year, June of 2013, I don't own any Hot Toys item yet. I love the movie and the promo photos looks convincing, so getting this is an easy decision for me.

This figure was released last month December 2013 and I received my copy a week ago, last Friday from Figmation. I got it at a fairly discounted preorder price. I believe it is still being sold at a reasonable price somewhere and it isn't getting too expensive yet anytime soon.

The figure stands about 325 mm, almost an inch taller than 12 inches. Quite taller than an average sixth scaled figures. Standing on the base, the overall height is 345 mm where the 20 mm accounts for the height of the base. Keep this in mind if you're displaying it in a shelf.

The box is a standard Hot Toys box, with the size of about 360 mm x 127 mm x 235 mm (LxWxH). It weighs around 750 grams. Neither too huge nor too heavy. Since I just got locally, I received it in a paper bag with the box itself wrapped in a plastic bag. No box damage or dent visible.

The box has a book type box cover that you can open to reveal the windowed contents of the box. Front has the Man of Steel movie name, a huge logo, the figure name and MMS200 code. The artwork seems to be based on the snowy mountains from the movie where Superman started learning to fly. A nice contrasting bluish background to the huge red Superman logo. Simple yet cool design. The back of the box has those warning labels, etc.

Both top and bottom part has the Man of Steel name. Upon opening the front cover, you can already see the box contents in a window. There's also some written credits about the production staff at the back of the front cover.

Inside the box, the figure and its accessories are protected with molded plastic support just as some other collectibles. It has four layers of plastic support. The top layer to protect the front of the figure, the second layer where the figure and all accessories are resting, the third layer that separates the cape and the base, and the bottom black colored layer where the base assembly is resting.

The figure isn't resting directly the cape. There is a square hole at the back of the third layer plastic, just around the back of the shoulders, where the cape is inserted all the way. Then there's a small plastic bag support to protect the cape and as I mentioned, the third layer support. The figure is totally protected inside the box, so no worries for those who wanted to keep it mint in sealed box for years.

Checking the contents, it has the figure of course, three pairs of hands not including the one that is already attached to the figure, a 1:6 and 1:1 scaled Kryptionian command key. For the base assembly, the main base, the flexible pillar, the holding clip and a cap. I'll talk about these accessories as we go.

Personal Impressions

Ok, so let's talk about the figure itself. Starting from the one thing that can make or break the overall looks of the figure - the headsculpt. The overall look of the headsculpt is a very crucial part of any figure, but for Hot Toys, it is their most important selling point, with the exception of their masked figures like Iron Man of course.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

The headsculpt of this figure is topnotch. It may not look exactly like Henry Cavill but is has a good resemblance to the actor. I kinda still seeing Christopher Reeve here. Maybe they really look alike in some way.

The paint details really gives life to the face. Looking very close, you can see the tiny freckles and skin wrinkles detailing. The eyes seems to be the real thing. You will notice the blood veins around the eyes and the detailing of the iris itself. Really looks amazing.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

A very subtle lip color makes it look natural. That frown gives it a really nice relaxed but ready to battle expression. The hair has those detailed strands with nicely applied dark brown color. I can't believe that I'm looking at the details a small head.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

The face looks fantastic on every angle. Even the ear detailing looks great.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

At sideview, the seam of the separation of the head and the neck is very obvious. It breaks the realism, but this is an articulated action figure, can't do anything about it. The hair still looks great here by the way.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Just a quick look at the back of the head. Great looking hair details.

There are some collectors who likes to replace these sculpted hair with real or synthetic hair strands. Something that is commonly found on dolls like Barbie. I believe they wanted to make the hair look more realistic, specially with long hair like Thor's. No offence to those who customize it like that, but I find it looking weird. These are action figure not dolls. I really hate those hair strands. To me, it looks really creepy. I'm perfectly fine with a nicely detailed and sculpted hair.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

A good view of the upper body. When the promo photos of this figure was revealed. Most collectors whine about the body that was used to be too fatty/muscular. It didn't reflect the body proportion of Henry Cavill in the movie. That's true, I also noticed that as well. But upon release, they change it to a much more movie accurate body type.

For some reasons, the actual color tone of the blue costume isn't what came out on these photos. Maybe my white balance is off, maybe my lighting, or maybe I need to stop buying collectibles and invest on a better DSLR. But believe me, the color is actually darker blue in person. It's not as dark as in the actual movie costume though, that's for sure.

It's also a little different from the costume of the prototype on the promo photos. That one has those subtle shading to highlight the curves of the muscle, and it have a sharper texture which doesn't appear to be on the final release. Those promo photos we're probably post processed though, so its really hard to tell if we're seeing actual prototype.

Back when I was at STGCC 2013, I saw a displayed prototype. The blue tone is also a bit different. It's not the same as either the promo photos or this final production release. I can't make out the actual color because it seems to be matte and isn't glossy like this. The texture is also a bit different.

The final release may not look the same as any prototypes that we've seen, but it still got the essence of the costume based on the movie. I'd still prefer if they made it the texture a bit finer and sharper to match the actual movie costume. The final release has a less sharper texture making it much less accurate. Anyway, it doesn't matter now since I am totally happy of how it turns out.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Notice the black part that holds the cape? I was actually worried about this part because I saw a lot of photos of this on the internet (specifically from some members of One Sixth Republic - Awesome group by the way) which is slightly raised and removed from being glued. Good thing mine is still in good condition. I hope I won't have a problem with this in the future. This is one major flaw of this figure.

So what's the "S" stands for? It's not an S. It means hope... for Hopeman. Just kidding. I do love how they interpret this as a symbol instead of the first letter of Superman. You wouldn't want to see Batman with a capital "B" on his chest right?

Anyway, the S symbol on his chest is close to what we've seen on the actual costume. It is made of an embossed rubber. A little too thick in my opinion but not a big deal, specially when you look at it at a distance. The thickness is just obvious on close up shots like these. It's good enough I suppose. At least they didn't use a textile paint like what they did on the costume of the Christopher Reeve MMS version.

The positioning of the emblem though is a little off. It should be a bit higher, closer to the neck. As for the shape, there shouldn't be any rounded contour. It should be a sharp diamond-like shape. Maybe it's just stretched, that's why it looks like that. Another thing is that it's supposed to have that metallic/foil feel like in the movie. Here it's clearly an embossed rubber. Nevertheless, it's still a really good looking Hopeman.. errr... I mean Superman symbol.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

The closed fists is the pair of hands that is attached out of the box. It looks nice with all those veins detail. It is attached by removable plastic joint.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

That black wrist band is a removable rubber-like material. It supposed to be skin tight and metallic in the movie. Not a very accurate detail but I guess it's just fine.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Here you can see a good shot of the abs. It does show up slightly over the costume. The crotch area is what I really don't like. I can't tell exactly but there's something off here. I believe it should show the shape of the underwear even if it doesn't have that usual Superman red Speedo.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Those black trim on the costume looks nice. But again, like the wrist bands, it supposed to be metallic. It's made of a glossy rubber too so it's not too bad. The blue tone on the costume is what's a fault here. That black trim should blend better if only the costume is darker blue like in the movie. With this lighter blue, it turns out to contrasting with those black trims. Looks good but not 100% movie accurate.

For the yellow parts of the trim, again it's supposed to be metallic as well. Just the same as yellow parts of the S symbol on the chest.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

A good look on another angle of the face.

The cape as I have mentioned is being held by that black rubber. It has pleats from the top towards the bottom at the back.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

The fabric material that was used isn't of high quality. It just an ordinary cloth. It can easily get crumpled if you're not careful. Something that can easily be fixed by Iron Man though. Don't forget the pleats if you're going to iron and be careful not to burn it. There's hem on the edges of the cape to prevent unraveling of the fabric.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Notice in the above photo that I already put some crumples/wrinkles on the cape.

Overall the cape is good enough, although I prefer some higher quality fabric that would make it look more flattering.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Hidden under the cape are the ugly stitches at the back of the costume. The cape isn't just for aesthetics only after all. So if someone ask why Superman wears a cape, there's your answer.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

The boots are looking fine, but I believe this is supposed to be much higher, closer to the knee.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

A shot of the left boot. By the way, the feet has also some articulation at the heel and the toe. Great when doing an aerial pose.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

In this photo above, this is how high the arms can reach without rotating the shoulders. So let's talk about a bit of articulation now. It said to have over 30 points of articulation. I didn't count though. It may be a fully articulated figure but the problem is the skin tight costume. It doesn't a actually hinders the articulation but I'm worried that I might put too much stress on the costume that it may end up deformed.

The material of the costume seems to be made of a spandex-like fabric. It's somewhat stretchable but I haven't really stretched it. Whenever you change the pose, the costume is bound to have some unwanted creases in certain areas, especially at the joints.

Another problem is that you cannot see the movable joints. So be careful when moving or rotating parts. If you're not too careful, you may end up forcing moving parts the wrong way and end up breaking the joints. I believe this shares the same problem on the previously released Hot Toys: The Amazing Spider-man MMS.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

It has double jointed knee and can be bend about 45-50 degrees. Notice the costume creases at the back of the knee.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

This is just about how high the head can look up. The head is ball jointed and you can make him face in a lot of directions. I haven't tried to pop out the head but I believe it's safely removable. I just don't want to see a decapitated Superman.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

This is just about how low the head can look down. According to the manual, you can only rotate the head side to side when looking straight or upwards. When facing all the way downwards, you cannot rotate the head. I find that you can still rotate the head a few degrees when facing downwards though.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Arms can be bent like in this photo (left arm). It can be bent by more than 90 degress before you can feel some contrasting force.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Just some ready-to-run pose. I am not really very creative in posing action figures.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Let's go through the optional parts in details. As I mentioned earlier, it comes with additional three pairs of hands not including the one that is already attached to the figure, which are the closed fists. The other three pairs are a pair of relaxed palms, a pair of open palms and a pair of holding palms. That makes a total of four pairs of interchangeable hands. I'll get to each pair in a little while.

There's a full scale and a sixth scale Kryptonian command key. You can also see two additional joints to attach the hands to the wrist. So you are actually getting four wrists joint including the two that is already attached to the figure.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

This is the full scale (1:1) Kryptonian command key. It said to be a Special Celebration Gift. It's not some special edition item like Iron Man hologram figures because it's included on all distributions. I wish Hot Toys do the same on all releases and make all their releases special editions.

Anyway, the 1:1 Kryptonian command key looks really cool. It's made out of metal and has some weight in it. Not a really important part of the figure but it's cool to have it. I'm thinking of making a custom display case for this alone. And who knows, I might find a Kryptonian ship to use this key and learn about my real identity.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Back into scale, this one is the 1/6th scale version of the Kryptonian command key. So small that you should be careful of not losing it. It's black, so if it fell on the dark areas or dark floor, you will have a hard time looking for it and end up shouting "I will find it" like General Zod.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Just to show you again, here's the hand that is attached when it shipped - the close fist. Let's try to removing it now to replace with another hand.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Here's a shot with the hand taken out. As I mentioned, the hands has a removable wrist joints and this is how it looks like without it.

It's not so hard to separate the wrist and the wrist joint. What's really hard is separating the hand from the wrist joint because you can only pull it by holding the small peg. It really hurts my fingers. I had to use some tool to pull it. Good thing there's two extra wrist joints.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Without the black wrist band, it looks like this.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

This is the open palm. This one is supposed to be used on Superman's flying pose, but I feel that it's much better to use the close fist when on doing flying pose. So this one might not be very useful to me. Still good to have it though.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

This one is called the holding palms. Probably for holding something, like General Zod's head to break his neck.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

This is the relaxed palm. Relaxed cause it's actually not doing anything. I can be used to hold something, or shake hands.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

One good way to use the relaxed palm. There isn't any specific hand to hold the Kyptonian command key actually, so this could work. Not exactly holding, but handing it over or showing it off to someone else.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

This is the manual that comes with it. It tells how to set-up the base and just some obvious warnings and advise.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Here's the base assembly. It comes with the holding clip, a cap to cover the top of the pillar, the flexible pillar, and of course the diamond shaped Superman logo base itself. The flexible pillar is similar to those phone holders that is usually seen inside cars. It's great that it comes with this instead of the clear acrylic rod.

The base is made out of plastic. It's really great that the figure comes with this cool looking base that is designed specially for Superman. The previously released Hot Toys Jor-El MMS also comes with a base like this but it's in black.

The overalll base assembly is almost the same as the Dynamic Figure Stand that it being sold separately by Hot Toys. I wish all future releases would come with a base like this.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Setup of the base is extremely easy and straightforward. You don't even need the manual. Just attach the bottom part of the pillar to the base just like a bolt.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Then slide in the holding clip to the hex screw head. Then twist cover the top with the plastic cap. Done! The overall height of the base assembly is 340 mm. That's from the plastic cap to the bottom of the base.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Just a good look at the label plate on the base. I haven't removed the plastic protector yet.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

So here's our hero in mid-air using the base. With the pillar of the base straight, and the clip on his mid-torso like this, the overall height is about 440 mm. It really adds a substantial amount of height. You need to keep that in mind when displaying in your display shelves. The pillar is only flexible to a certain extent but you can do a variety of mid-air poses with it.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Like I said, I'm not really very creative in posing action figure. So I just copied the pose from one of the promo photos.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

So what's a Superman that can't do a flying pose? As you can see here, he can do it, but you have to be careful on raising the arms like this. To do this, you have to rotate the shoulder joints. But like I mentioned, it's hard if you're not seeing the joints, you might do it wrongly. Don't put too much force if you're not sure that you're doing it the right way.

The fabric of the costume should also be kept in correct position. It should not follow the displacement of the arm but rather tit should rotate a well. Just imagine yourself raising your arm while you're wearing a long sleeve shirt. The fabric should behave like that.

I'm actually afraid of putting too much stress on the fabric and end up being deformed. I had to massage the fabric frequently as I raise the arm. I don't think I would do this pose too frequently. I'm really worried that I might mess up an expensive collectible.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

It can do the flying position but the head has a limited upward looking position, so it ends up facing downward every time and doesn't look where he's flying towards to. I hope he won't hit and destroy any building while he's flying.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Just a pose from the movie poster.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

Another pose from the movie poster

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

I think you already knew where I got this pose.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

A pose based from a Superman artwork.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

A pose copied from the Sideshow Premium Format Statue. That one still looks a lot better, but this isn't too bad either.

Hot Toys: Man Of Steel - Superman Movie Masterpiece

And yes, he can do a repulsor blast too. Or let's say he's holding a big moving vehicle.

There's a lot of thing I can say about this awesome Hot Toys figure, but I suppose you're tired of reading. This Superman figure may not be perfect and not perfectly accurate to the movie, but it's by far one of the best Man of Steel Superman figure to date. You wouldn't really notice those movie inaccuracy details unless you compare the photos from the movie side by side. As long as you can see the essential details of the character and costume, it is clearly the Man of Steel himself.

The topnotch quality of the headsculpt alone is enough to justify the purchase. The overall look and feel is of a high end collectible figure. With the price tag, it's not regrettable to have purchased it as an addition to anyone's collection. So far, the only better Man of Steel collectible figure than this is the Sideshow Premium Format Statue. Sadly, it's about two times the price of this Hot Toys Man of Steel. If you have enough funds for your collection, I say get that. But for me, this figure enough to satisfy my fanboy cravings being the next best thing.

If you love Superman and you loved the movie, get one of these for yourself. The next Superman movie a.k.a. Batman Vs. Superman, won't be around 'till 2016. Hot Toys may produce a better version of Man of Steel based on that movie, but it's still two years from now. So I think it's better not to wait that long for the next Hot Toys version of Cavill's Superman. It's costume design maybe a lot different than this.

I hope you enjoyed reading. Please check out the photo gallery below.

We're Not Getting Four POPs For February After All

MegaHouse is down by one POP for next month's releases. They just announced the delay of the release POP MAS - Tony Tony Chopper (Horn Point). It was initially announced as a February 2014 release, along with POP Edition-Z - Roronoa Zoro, POP LIMITED - Nami (Mugiwara Ver), and POP Edition-Z - Monkey D. Luffy, but was pushed backwards to March of 2014. This leaves us with three POP releases for the month of February.

This may be a bad news for those who can't wait for this POP, but this is actually a good news to those like me who preordered all four POPs. It's a bit of a relieve to our wallet. Still, three POPs in a month is a pain. Can't help it actually. These are all Mugiwaras and have to be a part of every POP collection.

The Resurrection Of Marco The Phoenix

Finally, after two months of waiting since its introduction during the Megahobby EXPO 2013 Autumn, POP MAS - Marco the Phoenix has risen up for preorder yesterday (see the preorder announcement here). If you're still on the other side of the fence, then it's time for you to check out these official promo images and see the figure in all the interesting angles to help you decide.

These photos aren't much of a surprise actually. We've seen the figure's entirety on the exhibit photos. No optional interchangeable parts as we can see here, just like the previously released POP MAS - Rob Lucci (Leopard Kami-e Bushin Ver.). I suppose most of the POP in this class won't have any alternate parts.

What surprised me is the pricing which is just 8,800 yen. I was actually expecting it to be more than 9,000 yen, given its use of clear effect parts. It's more like a POP Neo-Maximum to me. I'm glad that the price is lower than my expectation. The more reason for me to get it.

What I'm actually worried about will be stability of the figure. I'm not sure if it'll stand properly and won't lean on its heavy side after a while of being displayed. It may come with some sort of clear plastic support. I hope there won't be any problem displaying it cause I'm ain't going to keep it inside the box for a long time.

POP MAS - Marco the Phoenix is expected to ship on June 2014 for 8,800 yen (tax included). While preorders has been opened yesterday, some Japanese online hobby shops has already stopped accepting reservation like Amiami and Hobby Search. HLJ still have it on preorder. There's still more who are offering the international distributions though and won't close until the deadline. I hope you won't miss this one.

A Sexy Addition To Your Punk Hazard Collection

$

The second Figuarts ZERO that was revealed during the Jump Festa 2014 event has already been given a pricing and release date. Figuarts ZERO - Baby 5 will be a June 2014 release and it will cost you 4,104 yen should you decide to own this sexy looking figure.

Baby 5 must be popular to be getting a Figuarts ZERO treatment rather than giving us Kinemon. Or maybe they are just simply continuing the Punk Hazard characters. They have already released Trafalgar Law, Caesar Clown, Smoker and Tashigi. Anyway, this figure seems to look nice. It's just that I'm not totally contented.

There are two ways to make a successful Baby 5 figure. One is to show the alluring aspects of this sexy character. Sure this figure looks sexy, but I still find it fell short. Second is to show a battle ready and fully armed Baby 5 showing her devil fruit ability will all the effects, gizmos and stuff which would end up being a Battle ver. It's not the case here. It's even lacking of those huge heavy artillery that she usually carries on her back which made her an interesting character.

Anyway, we can't really tell yet if she would come with some other weapons and optional accessories based on these event photos. Notice that shotgun barrel left arm? I'm sure there would be an interchangeable normal left arm. The goggles seems to be removable because as you can see in these photos, it isn't aligned properly.

The pose however reminds me of a few Figuarts ZERO poses from their past releases. It's actually similar to the pose of Sanji (New World ver.), Portgas D. Ace (first version) and Smoker (pre-timeskip). Bandai seems to be recycling their previous Figuarts ZERO poses. They really need to hire someone that would boost their creativity.

I'm still on the other side of the fence for this one. I'm gonna need to see those official promo photos to help me decide. No word on the preorder date yet so just be sure to check my blog and Facebook page for future updates.

It's Going To Rain Meteors On August

$

It's going to rain meteors on August. Not on the One Piece anime or manga but on your wallets and on your display shelves. We got an info that Figuarts ZERO - Fujitora-Issho is expected to be released on August 2014. Priced only for 4,104 yen, but sadly, it is a Tamashii Web/Premium Bandai Web exclusive. I don't know what's the reason behind this exclusivity but I find it totally absurd.

Anime-only followers, watch-out for spoilers ahead.

I know that this character has been so powerful, being a blind admiral of the Marines. Fans we're awed with the destructive powers of his unknown yet devil fruit ability to the extent of bringing down meteors. Yes, this character is awesome but I don't think this is enough reason to make its Figuarts ZERO exclusive. It's not like it's some special edition recolors, or some movie theme, or a 7/11 tie-in. This is just an ordinary (but kick-ass) character.

Exclusive or not, this is something to look forward to. No photos available yet as of today. I hope it would come out nice and interesting enough to be worthy of being exlusive. Anyway, this announcement isn't final yet and there might be some changes. Hope they will change it's exclusivity factor and just make it available as usual. For more, just keep checking this blog and my Facebook page.

Wonder Festival 2014 Winter - POP

Wonder Festival 2014 Winter has wrapped up last Sunday, 9th of February 2014, and there tons of new upcoming great figures for us from various figure manufacturers like Good Smile Company, Kotobukiya, Alter, MegaHouse, etc. But for the usual MegaHouse's POPs, there isn't much to see aside from some updates of the previously showcased during the MegaHobby EXPO 2013 Autumn and Jump Festa 2014 events. That was expected actually since they usually show us their big guns during MegaHobby EXPOs. But these updates though small, are enough to get us excited, specially to those who are waiting for the release of these new POPs. Let's check out these updates.

POP Sailing Again - Gladiator Rebecca

First off the female gladiator of Dressrosa Coliseum (Sorry, this is a spoiler for non-manga readers). We get to see the prototype got colored before the others. Remember that this was just announced during the Jump Festa 2014 along with POP Sailing Again - Trafalgar Law Ver. 2.  Not surprising since this character I believe has a lot of fans already. And for MegaHouse, giving it a priority just makes sense.

It looks pretty and sexy, thanks to Oda's character design, but I find that I'm not 100% satisfied with the overall look of the figure. The coloring is fine, no complain about that. What I'm actually having a problem is the sculpt. The pose is one issue for me. I find it awkward and not too appealing. The sculpt of the thighs are a little bit off. It's too huge near the hip and too small on the knee area. This made her look short. It looks fine on some angle and looks awkward on some.

The colors on the other hand brings out the uniqueness of this figure. I like the way they dealt with those gold and shiny armor. Adding the blue cape and pink hair, it looks fascinating. During the Jump Festa 2014, we saw her without the helmet and smiling face. We're not sure yet how many alternate face/head she will come with, but it's now safe to assume that we would at least be getting two face/head with different facial expression. The helmet seems to be removable though it's worrying that it may damage the paint of the face and hair if it's indeed removable.

It may not be as great as I wanted it to be but she looks gorgeous and pretty. This is a must get for me. No price and and exact release date announced yet but since the it's already fully colored, we should expect it to be announced anytime soon.

POP CB-EX - Momonosuke

The next prototype that got colored. It actually shouldn't have taken them to long to paint such a small figure. It now looks a lot better with colors. Remember that I'm not satisfied in this figure before because of the simple pose and inexpressive face? Now that the face is painted, the annoyed expression is now obvious. The pink kimono looks nice. The wooden slipper (geta) has some fine details and is looking realistic.

I was actually worried that it wouldn't look nice even painted but it turns out to be an interesting figure. We don't have the pricing yet but it shouldn't be too expensive and won't hurt your pocket should you decide to get it. I would get it myself, but I'm gonna need Kinemon to display him with. Hopefully they will produce it soon.

This one is expected to be released on summer of 2014 which actually starts May in Japan. No price details yet.

POP Sailing Again - Trafalgar Law Ver. 2

So Trafalgar Law is a popular character, I get it. We already have two POPs of him already. The last one (POP Sailing Again) was released twice already and will be released again for the third time this coming May 2014. And here we got the third POP of Law, the one that was shown during last year's Jump Festa event.

The earlier prototype was sporting a mustache and sunglasses as a disguise on Dressrosa. This time, the prototype is without those disguise and simply showing his face sculpt which actually looks as great at the previous Sailing Again. Though if I'll be getting this, I would rather display it with that mustache and sunglasses since without it, it breaks the purpose of this outfit.

This one would look interesting in colors as you we should see the a huge tatoo on his chest. But aside from the pose, that tatoo, the opened coat, the mustache and sunglasses, the rest are just the same as the first Sailing Again version. I may or may not be getting this one. That will depend on how it would look like colored, and would depend on the colors of the papers inside my wallet of course.

To be released by 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet.

POP Sailing Again - Hyena Bellamy

The prototype of Bellamy is back, but this time he is wearing sunglasses, with a widely opened mouth and a crossed-arm gesture. The prototype that was shown earlier has its arms in downward position and a tongue-out facial expression. So you will be getting at least one extra pair of arms, an alternate head and a sunglasses for a different display option.

I'm not a fan of this character but like I said before the sculpt really looks simply amazing. Even the small details like the teeth and fingers are perfect. I'm really looking forward to see the fully completed prototype.

To be released by 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet.

POP Sailing Again - Bartolomeo the Cannibal

Nothing much new here, just an alternate arms, but with a very interesting gesture that would make you wanna display him like this. During the last MegaHobby EXPO, both his hands are inside his pocket. This time his two hands are doing a cross-finger gesture, a gesture that will also become a big thing in the anime soon. This one is also interesting to see in colors.

To be released by 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet.

To be released by 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet.

Wonder Festival 2014 Winter - GSC Fairy Tail

$
0
0

There are plenty of upcoming new figures from Good Smile Company, but what has really gotten the best of my attention are the new prototypes and announcement with regards to their 1/7th scale Fairy Tail figures. It's has been quite a while since they released 1/7th scale Lucy Heartfilia - their first Fairy Tail scaled figure and we haven't got any news to follow up on this line since then. But during last week's Wonder Festival 2014 Winter, we got not one... not two... but three announcements of Fairy Tail scaled figures from GSC.

They are going to release the first four main characters from the series. Yes, that's right, we will be getting Natsu Dragneel, Gray Fullbuster and Erza Scarlet. Isn't that a wonderful news to us Fairy Tail fans? GSC seems to be going along the returning popularity of the anime series which will resume by April 2014.

Natsu Dragneel

GSC has gotten far ahead with Natsu before his prototype was revealed. It is already fully completed to the point where it already have an official promo shot. It's looking great, but I find that the head is a bit smaller in proportion to his body. Doesn't look too bad though. You will notice that the skin tone is a bit darker compared to the anime. Not really a problem since he's actually described to have a slightly tan skin tone in the manga.

He's displaying his fire magic ability on his left hand and like Lucy, he's also on his pre-timeskip appearance. This is the best Natsu scaled figure to date, and yes, including that mediocre Natsu from Tsume (Sorry, I'm really not satisfied of that).

No pricing and release date yet, but seeing this fully completed prototype, it should be on preorder soon. Do I really have to say that this is a must get?

Gray Fullbuster

The second male lead of the series. It's really surprising that GSC is giving us male scaled figures before their usual female releases. Gray is still in it's unpainted prototype stage, but you can now have a very good idea of how would the fully completed prototype would look like. Judging from the looks of the face, you cannot really tell that this is Gray in an instant, only when you notice the clothing and his "Ice-make" gesture. His clothing by the way is also in pre-timeskip, same as Lucy and Natsu.

Overall, it really looks fine. I just hope that the likeness to Gray will improve after it is painted. Regardless, this is the first scaled figure of Gray Fullbuster and it's from none other than Good Smile Company. Can't wait for the fully completed prototype.

No pricing and release date yet, but its said to be released this year (2014).

Erza Scarlet

The last announcement may not have a prototype yet, but this is enough to really get us fans excited. One of the image on GSC's wall of teasers is an announcement of an Erza Scarlet figure. The photo shows her in her casual armor - the Heart Kreuz, but we're not sure yet if that's what we'll be getting. If she's indeed going to be wearing that, then I would like to see how it compares to Tsume release which I also find mediocre.

There also isn't much of a good Erza Scarlet figure out there. There's only two that I know of actually, the Tsume HQF and the and the Yoto Benisakura by Amakuni. For me, none of those really satisfy the lack of Erza scarlet figures. And yes, those ecchi figures from X-plus doesn't even count. They just ruin my respect to these characters.

I'm pretty sure that GSC will produce one hell of a great looking S-Class Mage of Fairy Tail. Please GSC, don't disappoint me.

Zoro Has Lost His Way Again

Zoro has lost his way again... on the store shelves that is. This would mean that we won't be meeting with him this February. POP Edition-Z - Roronoa Zoro will be delayed according to a news from Megahobby Station. The release date was pushed to next month, March 2014. As a result, we're now down to two POP releases for this month - POP LIMITED - Nami (Mugiwara Ver), and POP Edition-Z - Monkey D. Luffy.

Earlier, they also announced the delay of POP MAS - Tony Tony Chopper (Horn Point). We initially expected four POP releases by February, but it turns out that we'll only be getting two. I hope there won't be any further delay announcements from MegaHouse for this month.

Last Friday, I was happy to have received my first Kuroko No Basuke figure from Hobby Frontier - The Kuroko No Basuke Figure Series - Tetsuya Kuroko by MegaHouse. I'm totally happy about this figure as it really looks close to Tetsuya Kuroko from the series, particularly in the anime. I was just surprised to see that it's kind of small for a 1/8th figure. But come to think of it, Kuroko is actually a small character, so I guess this is fine.

The box measures 180 mm x 180 mm x 230 mm, and weighs only 420 grams. That's because aside from the figure and the base, there's nothing else inside the box. No accessories or alternate parts. For the price, I think it's a bit expensive having no accessories or alternate parts. But hey, this is Kuroko, and there is no complete Kuroko No Basuke figure collection without our main character. Can't wait for Taiga Kagami and the rest of the characters.

A Sexy Gladiator To Heat Up The Summer

Summer isn't coming up soon, but MegaHouse is letting us feel the July heat as they announce the preorder for the next addition to our POP collection, the semi-naked warrior - POP Sailing Again - Gladiator Rebecca. Preorders for this figure will start next Wednesday, 5th of March 2014 at 18:00 (JST).

This isn't actually a surprise for everyone as we're already expecting her to be announced for preorder next, given that the prototype is fully completed the last time we saw it at the Wonder Festival 2014 Winter event. She's already been introduced in the anime so this is very timely as this character's popularity is rising up.

Expect that you will have to battle for her should you wish to preorder from those Japanese online hobby shops like HLJ, Amiami and Hobby Search just to get a silly gold TOEI sticker. For practical collectors, just preorder from your usual international POP distributors and save up some money.

POP Sailing Again - Gladiator Rebecca is expected to be released on July 2014. No pricing details yet, so be sure to check out this site or follow my Facebook page for future announcements.

No official photos yet so for now, just check out these photos from Wonder Festival 2014 Winter.

The Hyena Springs Into Action

I actually thought that there isn't any POP preorder for the month of April coz the announcement from Megahobby Station was a bit delayed for some reason. Well now here it is, our April POP preorder, POP Sailing Again - Hyena Bellamy. Preorders starts next week, Tuesday, 8th of April 2014 at 18:00 (JST).

Last time we saw this prototype is during the Wonder Festival 2014 Winter, I don't remember any photos and infos after that. There are some other prototypes waiting for preorder announcement but its great that they given priority to Bellamy and not the Sailing Again - Trafalgar Law Ver. 2. I am actually waiting how the fully colored prototype would look. The overall sculpt is indeed amazing. I hope they can match it with great looking paint application as well.

I myself is not a fan of Bellamy and have no plans of getting this one... yet. But if the final look of the prototype is worth my money, I might change my mind. No pricing and release date given yet, so be sure to check out this site or follow my Facebook page for future announcements.

No official photos yet so for now, just check out these photos from Wonder Festival 2014 Winter.

Are You Considering This POP To Be A Part Of Your Collection?

Last Tuesday, 8th of April, MegaHouse officially opened up preorders for POP Sailing Again - Hyena Bellamy (check out the preorder announcement here). And finally, along with it are the release of the official promo photos of this figure on the Megahobby Station. It's the first time that we saw the fully painted prototype. And MegaHouse didn't disappoint.

The overall look of this figure is absolutely stunning. It even surpassed my expectation. We are already aware how amazing the sculpt is, but with all the paint details, it looks perfect. The muscle contours has been accentuated by those fine paint details, adding that tatoo and nice color contrast of the vest and the sash, it's nothing short of awesome. We're also familiar on how the two facial expression looks like, but with all the paint details. It feels more bad-ass.

The only nitpick that I have is the small legs being out of proportion to the upper body. But that's more of a character design issue and not the figure itself. I know that a lot of you aren't a fan of Bellamy, and that includes me. He isn't that character that really requires a POP treatment as there are some other important characters that really need it (cough.. Buggy.. cough!). Not everyone will notice the lack of a Bellamy figure if MegaHouse didn't even produce it. But since MegaHouse is of the bandwagon of producing Dressrosa characters, Bellamy had to be one.

Having said that, I wasn't really planning on getting this figure. Not a fan of the character itself so this was an easy pass for me. But with this nicely sculpted and detailed figure, it made me thinking. I'm still on the other side of the fence but if Eiichiro Oda decides to give this character a push on the manga storyline. I might really go for it.

POP Sailing Again - Hyena Bellamy is to be released by late-July 2014 for 8,800 yen (tax included). Preorders are now open at HLJ, Hobby Search, Amiami, Figmation and some other POP distributors. It isn't selling out fast like pancakes, so you still have some more time to think about it. I'm sure there will be more in-stock left on store shelves after it's been released. But like I said, Oda has the power to change the demands of this figure. Who knows, he might end if being a great ally... or a Strawhat maybe...

A Cold Blooded Assassin

A Cold Blooded Assassin

So what if there's a lot of Kakashi figure? Well actually, I am one of those who were asking why MegaHouse seems to be giving a lot of love to Kakashi fans. I am a fan myself of Kakashi, but I'm also waiting for some other Naruto characters to be produced. This G.E.M. Series - Hatake Kakashi (ANBU Ver.) is the third of MegaHouse's G.E.M. Kakashi so I asked "why another one?" But then I asked again "Why not?"

There is a reason why there isn't any shortage of a Kakashi figure, that's because there are a lot of Kakashi fans out there. And one of the reason for loving this character is because of his shinobi fighting abilities. MegaHouse released two G.E.M. Kakashi figures but non of those two showed a battle ready pose. So isn't it uncool not to have a kick-ass Kakashi on our display shelves?

This third G.E.M. Kakashi not only give us that shinobi agile look, but it also symbolizes a significant part of Kakashi's past - being a ANBU. In this new figure, Kakashi is on his 20's, and sporting a standard ANBU uniform complete with the mask. Though we're not sure if the mask is wearable, I think it's nice that it's included. You will also notice the lack of the Konoha forehead protector, but with a visible ANBU tatoo on his left shoulder instead.

There seems to be two set of head option. One with the ANBU mask and fully revealed Sharingan left eye, and another without the mask and closed left eye. I'm not quite sure if you can have the mask along with the one with closed left eye. Both face are without any expression. That's perfectly fine for an ANBU since they're supposed to be cold blooded assassins. The headsculpt and painting details really looks nice by the way.

The pose is what really makes this unique to the previously released G.E.M. Kakashi. He may not be in an actual attacking pose, but he's somewhat in mid-air (though stepping on a tree) while reaching out the sword that is strapped on his back. A pose truly fitting for a shinobi. And to support that pose, they included an interesting diorama style base. I'm glad that they included a tree branch instead of a common base. It made up the overall look of the figure.

G.E.M. Series - Hatake Kakashi is set to be released on mid-September of 2014 for 9,250 yen (tax included). Preorders are now available at Hobby Search, Amiami and Figmation. Even if you own the first two G.E.M. Kakashi, I don't think you should miss this as well. It's totally different being an ANBU Kakashi figure to display on your shelves. There's a  lot of good reason to own this one, and as a fan, I will.
