It's The Captain's Turn to Raid Your Wallets

$

November POP preorder has been announced and it is gonna be a follow-up of another Edition-Z. This time, it is none other than the captain himself - Monkey D. Luffy who will be taking your money. Preorders starts next Thursday (not the usual Wednesday schedule), 7th of November 2013 at 18:00 (JST).

We've seen the fully completed prototype before, in addition to those photos of the uncolored prototype, so it's not much of a surprise 'cause we have a clear idea of what we will be getting. We haven't seen much accessories though, just the strawhat and an alternate left arm to hold it. I am actually hoping for another one or two alternate facial expressions. I like the smiling face but I prefer him in some kind of serious or pissed-off face during his battle with Zetto. We should be seeing the official poster and promo photos anytime soon.

This is Luffy, and no strawhat crew collection is complete without the captain, so expect that most stores will declare sold-out in just a few minutes after preorders go live. Be ready with your F5 key, to quickly refresh your internet browser if you're after Japanese distribution version.

No pricing details and no official release date announced yet. I believe it is safe to assume a March 2014 release though. In any case, be sure to check out this post or my Facebook page for future updates.

No official promo photos yet, so just check out these photos from Chara Hobby 2013

POP SA Chopper Crimin Ver. Is A Jump Festa 2014 Event Exclusive

Remember the Chopper Crimin Ver. that we saw back at Wonder Festival 2013 Summer? Well it turns out that it's gonna be another event exclusive. Yep, that's right! POP Sailing Again - Tony Tony Chopper (Crimin Ver.) will be available exclusively at the MegaHouse booth during the upcoming Jump Festa 2014 event which will be held from 21st to the 22nd of December 2013.

I'm excited as I'm worried on the availability of this figure. I'm dying to get this one, but being an event exclusive, it's going to be tough to get from third party resellers outside Japan, not to mention the pricing which will be... oh well, let's just assume that it's going to be more than doubled. It will only retail for 3,000 yen at the event, but I'm thinking that I'll be slashing about 6,000 yen from my wallet before I can get my hands on the figure. Lucky of those who would be able to attend on the event.

Why would I pay 6,000-ish yen for such a small POP? Well, what I can I say? Aside from a cute looking Chopper figure, I love how he wears that pink Crimin shirt while holding a black flag with a Mugiwara jolly roger and the title "Portrait of Pirates" in it. It's also nice that the base isn't the usual POP base but a mock oak barrel top, giving the figure a familiar pirate touch.

This is the second Crimin ver. to be released. The first one being the Nami Crimin. I would really like to see all the Straw Hat Crew in their Crimin outfit to get the POP treatment as seen in Oda's illustration below.

This maybe just another POP Chopper, but it's a very welcomed version of him, rather than those neverending Chopperman releases.

Have You Included The Captain To Your February 2014 Plans?

It has been two weeks now since the preorder for POP Edition-Z - Monkey D. Luffy has began (check-out the preorder announcement here). We've seen the promo photos all over the internet already. But I haven't had a chance to talk about it yet here on my blog.

The first thing that I would like to talk about is the release date. I mentioned in my earlier post is that I'm assuming this to be a March 2014 release, considering that there are already three POPs scheduled to be released for February 2014 alone. Those three are POP Edition-Z - Roronoa Zoro, POP MAS - Tony Tony Chopper (Horn Point) and POP LIMITED - Nami (Mugiwara Ver). But to my surprise, POP Edition-Z - Monkey D. Luffy will also be released on the same month. This makes four POPs to blow away your wallets in one go like a hurricane.

Every POP collector is probably worrying about these release schedules, especially those like me who is on a tight budget and also considering of getting some other collectibles aside from POPs. But this is Luffy, and like I said earlier, no strawhat crew collection is complete without the captain. Who knows, MegaHouse might end up delaying any of these February 2014 releases.

Release schedule aside, let's talk about the figure itself. It looks really nice on all angles but considering Luffy's character design, you're not getting much PVC meat. The upper body looks so thin, specially without the red/yellow vest. I think they should have added more bulk to his body since this is a post time-skip Luffy where he have gained a bit of muscles from the 2-year training. It should be just like the same body size of the POP SA Luffy. This one is definitely much more skinny.

A lot of fans were wishing for an optional Armament Haki arm to be included, but based on these photos, it seems that the only alternate parts included are one right arm and one left arm without the sleeves to go along with the vest-less display and an optional open palm left hand to be able to hold the straw hat. We also got a serious face. No black shiny fist for the Armament Haki.

Overall, this figure really looks good. It looks a lot better as compared to POP SA Luffy, both being Luffy's post-timeskip appearance. Detail wise, everything is there. From the hair, face, vest, trousers and slippers, all are greatly detailed. Just like I said, my only complain is the less muscular body which I find a little awkward without the vest, specially in side view. I'm not planning to display it without the vest anyway, so I think it's not of a big deal.

POP Edition-Z - Monkey D. Luffy retails for 7,600 yen (inclusive of tax) and scheduled to reach store shelves on February 2014. Preorders and now open at HLJ, Amiami, Hobby Search, and Figmation. Better check out these stores and secure your order. I just find it weird that it hasn't gone sold out yet on these Japanese based hobby shops. Anyway, I'm sure this is gonna be one of the rare, high valued figure in the future. I'm still hoping for the version with red coat with sword and meat on his back though :)

Super-Franky Returns [UPDATED]

$

We got an info that POP SA-Maximum - Armored Franky is getting a re-release. But this only applies to MegaHouse affiliated stores like Megatreashop, etc. No word yet if this is also going to be re-released internationally just like what they did on the first release.

Remember that during the first release, it was initially announced as LIMITED edition and Japan-only exclusive. It is still labeled as "Excellent Model LIMITED" but was eventually released for international markets. The same release scheme may happen on this re-release. So for those who doesn't have this awesome POP yet, and having a hard time getting one, don't lose hope. This maybe your best chance.

No preorder schedule yet, so for further updates, just keep yourself connected to this blog and my Facebook page.

Update (2013-11-22): It turns out that this announcement is not a re-release but just a re-sale of unclaimed/cancelled orders. This will only be available at the Megatreashop and stock availability will only be granted to those who will be drawn via lottery. You will need to sign-up in order to be included in this lottery (more info here and here). So for those who are waiting for the international re-release, sorry this isn't for you :)

Just Got Some Early Christmas Gifts (New Stuff 2013-12-02)

Just got some early Christmas gifts for myself. Last Monday, 2nd of December, I happily received three brown boxes. One from HLJ, one from Hobby Search and one from Figmation. Let's check out the contents.

The first huge box from HLJ contains the items that I ordered and paid for since the 1st of October. I just let them stay at my private warehouse at HLJ until I accumulated enough items to save for shipping. This is a feature at HLJ wherein you can keep all your paid items on their so called "Private Warehouse" (maximum of 60 days only) and then have it ship altogether whenever you think you have enough items for shipping. This way, you save some money for shipping since you don't have to pay for each item's shipping cost.

(Sorry for the low quality photos. I only used a phone camera)

Ok, enough for me sounding like some salesman from HLJ. I'll show you what's inside the box. I got G.E.M. - Uzumaki Naruto, Sci-Fi Revoltech - Buzz Lightyear (Reissue), Sci-Fi Revoltech - Woody (Reissue), Kotobukiya - Mechanical Chain Base 006, Kotobukiya - Mechanical Chain Base 003, Fujimi - 1/24 Lamborghini Reventon Model Kit, GD91 MG Aile Strike Gundam Ver. RM/ Strike Rouge Ootori Decal, GD93 MG Wing Proto Zero EW Decal, GD96 RG Gundam GP01/FB Decal, GD92 MG Shenlong Gundam EW Decal, Tamiya - 1/24 LaFerrari Etching Parts Set, Tamiya - 1/24 LaFerrari Carbon Slide Mark.

I paid only 3,300 yen for shipping via EMS. Not bad for this much items. Now I already have some few new items at my private warehouse at HLJ and is starting to grow. But I don't have to worry about shipping til January.

The next smaller box comes from Hobby Search. It contains... guess what.. a POP. Yeah, a month isn't complete without one.

It's the reissue of POP Neo-DX - Donquixote Doflamingo. I missed the first release so when the preorder opened at Hobby Search, I immediately placed a preorder. The problem is, I don't have any other orders at Hobby Search for that month so I have to pay for the shipping of this single item alone. And I paid 3,500 yen via EMS. Yeah, bad decision. I should have ordered from HLJ so it would be shipped along with my other items and save some money. Anyway, still happy that I got this pink bad-ass.

And the last smallest box is from Figmation. I didn't pay any shipping 'coz the house of Figmation's owner is very close to our office. The owner just deliver this box to me free of charge. No need to guess what's inside the box as you can easily tell what is it from the box print... or not... it is in Japanese. Well, at least you can read some.

Ok, don't hurt yourself trying to read Japanese. I'll show you the contents of the box.

This is a two-figure set. The 4th One Piece FILM Z Figuarts ZERO set (Aokiji Kuzan, Nami) limited editions. It was released last September 2013, but it took sometime to reach Figmation. This order has actually slipped my mind and almost forgotten about it until I received the payment invoice from Figmation. It only shows that I am not that much interested on this anymore, so I'm thinking of selling it sometime later.

Well, that's all that I can share for now. Thanks for reading.

Megahobby EXPO 2013 Autumn - POP

The Megahobby EXPO 2013 Autumn event has already wrapped up by the end of Saturday, 30th of November 2013. But the butterflies of excitement for the upcoming new figures are still clinging on my whole body. Of course the first thing that I watched out for are the new POPs by MegaHouse.

MegaHouse has a whole lot to offer, but as usual, they have to give the best priority to their most famous 1/8th figures of One Piece characters product line, the Portrait of Pirates. We got six new surprises. By surprises, I mean new figure prototypes that we haven't seen before. Two fully painted and four unpainted ones.

What's more surprising is that MegaHouse is on full throttle on bringing us characters that hasn't even appeared on the One Piece manga yet. The problem with this is that non-manga readers or anime-only followers may not even know these characters yet. So this is some kind of spoiler for them. So before you proceed reading this, I should warn you of some spoilers. But if you're a manga reader or you just simply don't worry about spoilers, let's go check out the photo and talk about it as we go.

POP MAS - Marco The Phoenix

First on the list is the return of the 1st division commander of the Whitebeard Pirates and the only mythical Zoan that we know about. He's already been given a POP treatment before in the form of POP Neo-DX. This time he is now a part of the new MAS class which shows his Zoan devil fruit ability. It's the first time that we have seen this prototype but it's already fully painted. It's probably going to be the next preorder.

Before the expo, I actually wished for Marco's return under the Maximum class. That's because I missed the DX version and I wanted to see some blue flamed effect POP of Marco. MegaHouse didn't give me the Maximum but they surely gave me what I was wishing for.

Marco is in his mid-transformation towards his phoenix form in this figure. His right arm is fully transformed into blue flaming phoenix wing and his left eye got that blue flame effect. The lower legs were already transformed into bird feet with some effect parts on the left leg, but the rest of the body is still in human form.

The base is also interesting cause it looks like we aren't getting the common octagonal base but a cool blue flame effect base. The pose is totally dynamic which I'm digging very much. This is clearly a display of how much MegaHouse has improved on their products. I'm looking at it as one of their high quality and highly detailed figure. I can talk about this truly amazing figure the whole day but we have to check out some other figures too.

To be released on 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet. I was actually hoping that it would be a December 2013 preorder and to be released by March 2014. But MegaHouse already announced their December preorder line-up and there isn't any POP on the list. So we probably need to wait until January 2014 more before we can get more details about it. Needless to say, this is on my top of the list.

POP Sailing Again - Hyena Bellamy

I told you about the new manga characters right? This one is in between the old and new characters. Anime-only followers, you remember Bellamy right? From Skypeia Arc? The former captain of the Bellamy pirates who was punished by Doflamingo after being beaten by Luffy? Ring any bell? Ok, he wasn't a popular character before, but on the new events on the manga, he returns as a gladiator competing at the Corrida Colosseum.

The figure is still on the unpainted prototype stage. Being a post-timeskip character appearance, it is under the Sailing Again class. Not a huge fan of a character but the figure looks appealing. Even without the colors, you can see how nice and detailed the sculpt is. From the hair, face and muscle formations, it looks great. I'm not planning on getting this one but that may change once I get to see the fully painted prototype.

To be released on 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet.

POP Sailing Again - Bartolomeo the Cannibal

Now this is a new character from the manga. He is also a gladiator competing at the Corrida Colosseum. So as a new character, it is only apt for it to be under Sailing Again class.

He isn't also a very likable character but if you look into the character design, there is a lot of details going on which was nicely transferred into PVC sculpt. But even though it might look awesome in colors, I think I'll pass on this one. Unless his character played a big role on the upcoming chapters, I may rethink my decision.

To be released on 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet.

POP Sailing Again - Cavendish of the White Horse

Another new character from the manga and also a gladiator competing at the Corrida Colosseum. Again, under the Sailing Again class.

I also didn't like the character but the character may become likable because of his looks. Yeah kinda girly look, but it maybe appealing to girls. I don't know. The sculpt also looks great but it's really hard to appreciate a figure of a character that you don't like very much. And like Bartholomeo, I don't have plans of getting this one unless he would have major role in the One Piece storyline that would eventually make him very likable.

This is the third gladiator on the new manga events to have the POP treatment. It's quite surprising that MegaHouse is giving priorities to new manga characters. There are so much One Piece characters that are way long overdue to be given a POP treatment. Characters like Buggy, the rest of the supernovas or the Baroque works characters. But they decided to do some not so popular yet characters. If they are eager to do some new characters, why not do a Rebecca, Violet or Baby 5. I may sound like a pervert but the reality is that beautiful female characters are very likable and would be a sure sold out POP.

Anyway, Cavendish is also to be released on 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet.

POP Neo-DX - Kaku

Now this is another something to look forward to. It's great to see MegaHouse is contnuing with CP9 members. I love to see them all get the POP treatment. Or maybe just until Jabra and Blueno. I can't imagine a POP Kumadori and Fukuro. And I'm not a fan of Nero, he's barely a CP9 member. But if ever they would all get the POP treatment, I'll probably get them all just for completions sake. After all I'm a huge fan of CP9.

Ok, let's talk about this POP. Just like MAS Marco, it is already fully painted and could be the next in line for preorder. The figure looks very simple as all the past CP9 POPs are, aside from the MAS Rob Lucci of course. But I think they didn't give too much attention on Kaku here. I noticed that there too much white shading on his all-black outfit. It made the his outfit look too worn out. The line the covers the zipper on his crotch looks weird. It didn't blend in his pants. These are just some minor flaws but I'm hoping that it could be fixed before the release. Well, fixed or not, this is already a must get for me.

To be released on 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet.

POP CB-EX - Momonosuke

The sixth new POP announcement is a Chibi. It has been a while since we saw a new POP chibi. Here we got the character Momonosuke, the son of the Samurai Kinemon. It's odd that we got Momonosuke first before Kinemon. But I believe that a Kinemon POP will come out soon.

As for the figure, there isn't anything special. Just a lifeless looking Momonosuke. Yeah sure it's PVC that's why it's lifeless but c'mon, he's just simply standing very straight with straight eyes looking forward. They could have given him some interesting pose and an expressive face. Unless they would give him some optional alternate parts, he wouldn't be on my must get list. For a small POP, it maybe a cheap figure, but it's just a waste of money if it turns out to be uninteresting.

To be released on 2014, but no exact release date and price announcement yet.

Get Ready For His Sharingan

So we don't have new POP for preorder this month, but MegaHouse isn't stopping on bringing us good stuff every month. This month we'll be having the preorder of a Naruto Shippuden character - the 1/8 scale G.E.M. Series - Uchiha Sasuke. Preorders starts next Wednesday, 11th of December 2013.

When the G.E.M. Series. - Uzumaki Naruto and G.E.M. Series - Hatake Kakashi Ver. 2 was announced, we knew that a G.E.M. Series - Uchiha Sasuke will follow. We saw this the first time during the Megahobby EXPO 2013 Spring on it's uncolored prototype stage. Last Saturday, it was showcased during the Megahobby EXPO 2013 Autumn in colors.

It isn't a total mindblowing figure, but so far this is the best 1/8th scale Sasuke figure out there. The face isn't that faithful to the manga/anime but you will notice that there is a photo at the back which seems to be an alternate head/face with a sharingan eyes. That face looks a lot better than the one on the displayed prototype in my opinion.

The details are pretty decent and has all the interesting features of Sasuke. The pose isn't bad as well. I just noticed that his sword Kusanagi is a little different from the one showed during it's uncolored prototype stage. This one doesn't resemble the Kusanagi and the colors looks different. It almost seemed like a different weapon. We don't have any other good shots at the back of the figure so its really hard to make out the details of the weapon.

Hopefully we see a lot of alternate parts for different display options just like the G.E.M. Series - Uzumaki Naruto, but for any fan of Naruto Shippuden, this is a must have. We should be seeing the official promotional photos anytime soon so it's just a matter of time before we see complete package of what MegaHouse has to offer. I wish they would announce G.E.M. Series - Haruno Sakura and other Naruto characters soon.

G.E.M. Series - Uchiha Sasuke is set to be released on April 2014 with the price of 7,800 yen. I will give you an update once the official photos are released.

No official promo images yet so check out these photos from Megahobby EXPO 2013 Autumn

My Last Haul for 2013? (New Stuff 2013-12-27)

Last Friday, 27th of December, I got a box from HLJ. I never thought my orders that were stored on HLJ's private warehouse would grow up so fast that I had to ask for shipping again. This is my last haul for 2013? Probably not. I just purchased my first RG Gundam last Saturday, so yeah, that will be my last collectible item for 2013.

Although I still have some incoming items like all POP releases for this month, and a couple of Hot Toys releases, I guess they would be my early 2014 hauls. So for now let's just check all these stuff.

Below is a standard box form HLJ. Not so huge since I don't have any huge item inside.

A Not So Exciting Figuarts ZERO Release for April

Bandai's first Figuarts ZERO release announcement for 2014 is now out. And this is none other than Figuarts ZERO - Shanks (Battle ver.) which was seen during the Jump Festa 2014 event last 26th of December. It is set to be released on April 2014 for 4,320 yen.

I was really excited the first time I got an info about this release. It is Shanks, it should be awesome, how bad can it be? But when I actually saw these shots, I totally felt disappointed. If you have read my thoughts about the Figuarts ZERO - Trafalgar Law (Battle ver.), this is worse. Yeah, it's worse than I expected

Looking at the face alone, there isn't any resemblance to Shanks. I can't even make what a lifeless looking facial expression is that. The only defining expression are the eyebrows, which is absolutely offensive looking. They should have used the Figuarts ZERO - Shanks (Showdown at the Summit ver.) head sculpt which look way a lot better than this.

The pose is also non-flattering. They didn't even thought of some unique and cool looking battle stance. The effect parts are also lame. It's nothing we haven't seen before. C'mon Bandai, this is Shanks. One of the most epic character in the world of One Piece. He deserve a better Battle ver. treatment than this.

I suppose this figure would look a lot better when we see the official promotional photos, which were normally post processed to make the figure look nice, a common technique for Figuarts ZEROs. But since we already saw this prototype, Bandai won't be fooling us. Well, I still do hope that it will look better upon release. If only they can make the face look right, then it's fine for me. But for now, I'll say "pass".

No preorder schedule announcement yet, so be sure to keep an eye for further updates.

The Return of the Red Hawk

Figuarts ZERO - Monkey D. Luffy (Gomu Gomu no Red Hawk - Battle ver.) is getting a re-release on April 2014, coinciding with the release of Figuarts ZERO - Shanks (Battle ver.). This is inevitable. Not only because this the main character's figure, but this is the best looking Figuarts ZERO Battle ver. release so far.

It will now be retailing for 3,456 yen, a slightly higher price tag than the first release (which is 3,360 yen). So if you missed the first release, this is a great chance for you.

No preorder schedule announcement yet, so be sure to keep an eye for further updates.

Starting the Year with a Limited Edition Announcement

MegaHouse starts a new year with a great looking figure announcement but with a slightly annoying distribution scheme. POP Neo-DX (as it was classified during the Mehahobby EXPO 2013 Autumn event) Kaku is going to be a LIMITED edition (as was classified during the Jump Festa 2014 event). A really annoying move from MegaHouse.

Well, that isn't so surprising considering they have done it before with Kalifa and Sadi. POP LIMITED - Kaku is going to be released on June 2014 for 8,424 yen. I think the price is too steep for a simple looking POP like this. And that's only the official pricing for MegaHouse's affiliated stores like Megatreashop, Premium Bandai, etc. Outside Japan, pricing will be way much more expensive. So be ready for that.

For a CP9 fan like me, there's no question why I should be getting this one. It's just too bad that I'll be paying more than it's overall value. Unless there's tons of optional display parts that would come with it. Notice that two swords that was seen during the Jump Festa event? Well for me, it's not enough to justify the price.

No exact preorder announcement date yet. So be sure to check this blog or my Facebook page from time to time for further announcements.

Once More, Re-Sailing Again

Sigh... MegaHouse is clearly milking their almost perfected POP Sailing Again - Trafalgar Law and the popularity of the character. MegaHouse announced the re-release of this POP for the third time. Reasons are obvious though. Demands are quite high, so it's all about the profit.

Sure it's nice for everyone to get their own copy of this awesome POP. But then again, how about for us who already got our own copy. It's already annoying that the collector's value of this POP drops everytime it is re-released (see what happened to POP Sailing Again - Princess Shirahoshi), not to mention that the second release was just about two months ago. So at least give us something that would excite us, like another new POP aside from Trafalgar Law.

We're all waiting for some new announcements like POP MAS - Marco the Phoenix and etc. that were shown during the recent exhibits. There's even a version 2 of POP Sailing Again - Trafalgar Law that was revealed at the Jump Festa 2014 event. Why not that instead? Well, I'll just think of this as a break for too many POP releases on the first quarter of the year alone, and a break for my wallet as well.

For those who doesn't have this POP yet, (and I'm asking you what's holding you back from getting your own copy), this is your third chance. No re-release date and pricing announced yet (it's probably the same price of previous releases). Preorders starts next Thursday, 16th of January 2014 at 18:00 (JST).

Redeeming MegaHouse for the lack of exciting POP announcement this January is the second addition to the Kuroko No Basuke Figure Series, the challenger to the Generation of Miracles - Taiga Kagami. A follow up to their Tetsuya Kuroko from the same product line and anime/manga series. Preorders for Kuroko No Basuke Figure Series - Taiga Kagami will start on the same date and time as the POP Sailing Again - Trafalgar Law (re-release) which will be next Thursday, 16th of January 2014 at 18:00 (JST).

We first seen the uncolored prototype during the MegaHobby EXPO 2013 Autumn last November. It then appeared again if full color at the Jump Festa 2014 event last December. So far MegaHouse has the best offerings for Kuroko No Basuke figures. Judging from the first two figures - Kuroko and Kagami, the sculpt is top-notch, the face is spot-on and they got the essence and personality of the character in their dynamic pose. Really love it.

To follow-up sometime later will be Daiki Aomine & Shintarou Midorima which was also shown during the Jump Festa 2014 event while still on uncolored prototypes. It's exciting to see the rest of the Generation of Miracles. I believe MegaHouse is serious producing all the major character from the series, given the fact that they made a separate figure series called "Kuroko No Basuke Figure Series".  I hope they will also produce Satsuki Momoi too :) (yeah, I sounded like a pervert again).

No pricing and release date announced yet, so keep your eyes peeled on this site or on my Facebook page.

Iron Man Is Now Ready for Deep Space

About a week ago, Hot Toys officially announced the release of Iron Man 3 - 1/6th Scale Mark XXXIX Starboost MMS. I've been waiting for this one since it was shown in various exhibits and toy convention. What's not to like about it? It is one cool Iron Man armor with an unusual color scheme. Not the usual red-gold-silver but a gold-white-grey/black color scheme. Really an eye catcher if you display it next to the rest of the Iron Man armors.

This armor is said to be incorporating a powerful booster pack that allows Iron Man to achieve orbit in a matter of minutes. From there, he can observe the entire world, enjoying the view - or descending on bad guys anywhere on the planet as a flaming blast from the sky! Rumours said that this armor ia supposed to appear in the the mid or end-credit scene of the Iron Man 3 movie being used by Tony Stark to meet-up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. I guess that idea was scrapped since they decided to blow-up all the armors and just put Bruce Banner in the end-credit scene.

Sadly, it doesn't come with too may accessories. Just a few pair of hands and an extra faceplate without the eye lights which I don't think will be useful. The base though, doesn't come with the usual clear rod but a flexible pillar, similar to the one that comes with Man Of Steel - Superman MMS and the Hot Toys own Dynamic Figure Stand. The one that looks like Dr. Octopus's Octo arm. A better stand for an aerial poses.

I believe that there's a lot of haters of  Hot Toys Iron Man already for releasing too many Iron Man and forgetting their other licenses. Well, can't do anything about it. Business is business. The higher the demand, the higher the production priority it will be. For me, I'm not bothered. I like Iron Man, but if they release something that I don't like. I'll just skip it and wait for another.

Below are the details:

The 1/6th scale Starboost (Mark XXXIX) Collectible Figure’s special features:
  • Authentic likeness of Starboost (Mark XXXIX), the Sub-Orbital Suit, in Iron Man 3
  • Over 36 points of articulations
  • Approximately 30 cm tall
  • Special features on armor:
  • Two (2) face masks
  • One (1) full gold color mask
  • One (1) gold color mask with transparent eye slots
  • LED-lighted eyes and triangle-shaped RT on chest (white light, battery operated)
  • White, gold and black colored painting on armor with embossed pattern
  • Additional booster pack attached to back with LED light up function (white light, battery operated)
  • Three (3) pairs of interchangeable palms including:
  • One (1) pair with improved articulations, movable fingers and light-up repulsors
  • (white light, battery operated)
  • One (1) pair of forceful fists
  • One (1) pair of repulsor palms
  • Improved articulations on waist armor which allow flexible movement
Accessory:
  • One (1) circular figure stage with flexible pillar

Release date: Q3-4, 2014

Hot Toys Hong Kong side tells that it will be released on the 3rd to 4th quarter of the year. Hot Toys Japan listed it as December 2014 release and retails for 29,000 yen, while Sideshow tells that it would be released of November 2014 for 269.99 USD.

I preordered mine from Figmation for 266.00 SGD (pay upon arrival). A lot less expensive right? You can also get it at a lesser cost if you choose full payment or partial payment. Go check it out here if you're interested on getting one.

My 2nd Hot Toys Collectible is Another Tony Stark (Look What I Got 2014-01-09)

I just got my 2nd Hot Toys and it's another Tony Stark. My 1st is the Mark XLII Autonomous Prehensile Propulsion Suit Test (a very long figure name isn't it?) which I got from STGCC 2013. This time it's the one that was released last December - The Mechanic. I got this one yesterday from Figmation.

I actually thought this is going to be released on April 2014. I was thinking of getting Mark XLII and Iron Patriot before this. But then they released it about five months ahead. Now I have two Tony Stark and no Iron Man Armor. Oh well, it's still better that waiting too long for this.

My next Hot Toys will be Man of Steel - Superman. I'll probably, get it in about a week or two.

Smaller Than I Expected (Look What I Got 2014-01-10)

Got my 1st Alter figure today from Hobby Frontier, and I was surprised that it was smaller than I expected. Alter's Amane Suzuha & Mountain Bike is also a 1/8th scaled figure but comparing it to my POPs, Amane Suzuha is a bit smaller. But don't get me wrong, I'm not disappointed. It really looks stunning in person. Especially the bike. Photos wasn't able to give it justice.

You may think that this is an old figure but it's not. It was announced and became available for preorder over that a year ago, but the release date was pushed from January 2013 to November 2013. About a year of delay. I actually forgotten about this and said I'll pass. But upon the release and read all the reviews, I was convinced that I should be getting this.

The Steins;Gate was a nice show, but it's nothing that made me think about it every time. meaning, I enjoyed it but I'm not a huge fan. That doesn't stop me from getting this figure. It's really a work of art in it's own right regardless of the source anime. Really glad to have it.

A Huge Box from Japan to End the Day (Look What I Got 2014-01-10)

Just when I thought that a nice day ended because of my new Hot Toys - Tony Stark and Amane Suzuha, I got a new box from Japan via EMS. It came from Hobby Search. I was assuming that this will reach me on Monday, but here it is. What a great way to end the week. Let's check out the contents of the box.

(Sorry for the low quality photos. I used only a smartphone camera).

Well, the contetnts were actually none other that the December released POPs - POP Edition-Z - Aokiji Kuzan and POP MAS - Rob Lucci (Leopard Kami-e Bushin Ver.).  I paid 4,000 yen just for the shipping via EMS. I think it's fair enough considering the prices of these two figures if were to get it locally. The box is a bit heavy by the way.

Boxes size are as expected. But I just noticed that Rob Lucci figure is smaller than I expected. Probably it's because of the Kami-e Bushin technique. I'm really glad as well as exciting to see them both. I think I'm starting the new year right :)

Not Your Usual Three-Headed Beast

I don't play Rage of Bahamut (it's a mobile app card game if you're not familiar). Probably opened the app a few times, but didn't played it much in that sense. In fact, I am only playing Pantheon the Legends (another mobile app card game). But I find the character card designs of Rage of Bahamut to be impressive. My awestruck to these characters was taken to the next level when Kotobukiya stepped in and produced a 1/8th figure of Dark Angel Olivia which I didn't find any hesitation to preorder because of her stunning beauty.

This time, it's Max Factory's turn to give us an impressive figure based on that social game. And we got a stunning beauty of a 1/7th scale Cerberus figure. Everyone is aware that a Cerberus is a three-headed beast, but you're vision of a Cerberus will forever be changed by this figure. I saw this one unpainted during the Wonder Festival 2013 Summer. At that time, it doesn't look interesting with the lack of colors. I took is as just some random sexy figure. And to my surprise when I saw these photos of the fully painted figure.

I love the mixture of colors. That shiny metallic-like purple armour is really nice to look at with all those golden trims. The curves and sexiness of her body sculpt is nearly perfect. The hair that is flowing in mid-air and that fabric add up to the interesting features. Her face is really lovely with that innocent smile. The details of those cute little dog hands is a wonderful bonus. I really can't find a word to describe her gorgeousness. Fantastic details, that's what I'm seeing.

Of course, a stunningly detailed figure comes with a high price tag. The figure will retail for 13,800 yen. Not surprising for a Max Factory produced figure of this complexity. It will be yours and ready to be cuddled by June of 2014. Hoping it won't be delayed but for a figure distributed by Good Smile Company, delays are inevitable. So crossing fingers for that.

And guess what? Preorders for Max Factory Rage of Bahamut - 1/7th Scale Cerberus has already opened, so do check out your favorite hobby shops or get her here at HLJ, Hobby Search and Amiami while it's still available.

Frozen in Mid-air

Here we go with the official photos of the 2nd figure from MegaHouse's Kuroko No Basuke Figure Series as preorder for the 1/8th scale frozen in mid-air Taiga Kagami figure has opened up (check out the preorder announcement here). As expected, the figure is looking really great in these photos.

Like Tetsuya Kuroko (which will be released this month), Taiga Kagami does not come with any oprional parts and accessories, only the basketball. I wonder if it can be separated from the hand. Anyway, judging from these photos, the paint details were nicely done. The face is spot-on. That's Kagami for sure. Sculpt of the muscle contours, the uniform and the shoes is close to being perfect.

My only complain is that the red color on the hair seems to be lacking in details. I'm expecting that there should be some black lines or shading along the red hair to accentuate the strands. From these shots, it looks like a lump of red-paint fell directly above his head. It may probably be just not visible on these shots though. Hopefully it looks better in person.

Anyway, regardless of that one issue, this is a must get for me and a must for those who are a huge fan of Kuroko No Basuke anime/manga series. Especially if you have preordered Kuroko himself. You wouldn't want to see Kuroko alone in your display shelf, right? And you might wanna look forward also on the upcoming Daiki Aomine, Shintarou Midorima and probably the rest of the Generation of Miracles as well.

Kuroko No Basuke Figure Series - Taiga Kagami is to be released on June 2014 for the price of 8,600 yen (tax included). Preorders are now open (or closed) at HLJ, Amiami, and Hobby Search

Absurdly Expensive Yet Satisfying (Look What I Got 2014-01-20)

I just got my copy of POP Sailing Again - Tony Tony Chopper (Crimin Ver.) JF 2014 Limited Edition from Figmation today. And yeah, I still can't over the fact that I paid about three times it's original price of 3000 yen. That was expected though being a Japan event exclusive. Too bad that I wasn't there to avail it for 3000 yen. I had to rely on third party sellers (or proxy buyers) to get stuff like these.

It's a real headache when they release limited items that I really wanted. In the end, I'm glad that there are sellers to rely on these kind of exclusives. I'm happy to have the second POP Crimin in my collection. My POP Nami Crimin Ver. won't be alone anymore. I hope they release more Crimin Ver., but not limited/exclusives please.
